The 2013 Festivals of Aloha fittingly culminate with an action-packed agenda in heavenly Hana.  Non-stop activities include a town parade and Ho’olaule’a, Aloha Wear contest, fishing tournament, Teen Night, Poke Contest, Ulu (Breadfruit) Cook-off, Lei & Floral Show and lots of hula and Hawaiian music — all happening at the one of the most authentic, unspoiled locations in the world. Hanaside News Photographic Competition


A challenge to find the finest photos taken in East Maui this fall.

Photos of any subject of local interest must be digital and with a caption and contact details of the photographer. Entries (free but limited to three per entrant) to hanasidenews@hanahawaii.net, or on disk to PO Box 795, Hana to arrive by the end of Aloha Week, October 23. Submission of a photograph will imply all necessary consents and publication rights. Judges’ decision final.
The winner, to be announced in the Winter Edition where the best pictures may be published, will receive a signed copy of George Kinder’s wonderful book A Song For Hāna.

Friends of Hana Keiki

The Friends of Hana Keiki www.hanakeiki.org is up and running.

Friends of Hana Keiki was created in 2010 to accept tax deductible donations to be used exclusively to benefit keiki from Keanae to Kaupo. The group works with Hana School and other community organizations to identify the needs of area children and fund and promote programs which are not provided through traditional school and community funding sources.
